Mobile recording shortens the memory gap
Many stock differences start when somebody moves an item, makes a note and plans to update the computer later. A phone allows the record to be made beside the shelf, customer or van while the product, quantity and reason are still clear.
The benefit disappears if the flow is too slow. Test product search, scanning, units and location choice using the catalogue staff actually handle.
When is a phone camera sufficient?
For a small shop or moderate scanning volume, the existing phone can be a sensible start. Dedicated hardware may suit continuous warehouse scanning, damaged codes and long shifts better. Salelog offers camera scanning for supported codes, not a universal replacement for industrial equipment.
A scan identifies the product; it must not alter the balance until a valid operation is completed.
Give mobile and web different jobs
Mobile is useful at receiving, on the shop floor, in a van or at an event. Web is useful for long lists, keyboard entry and report review. Test every procedure on the device that will perform it, because feature coverage is not declared identical.
Treat pending work as unfinished delivery
Offline-first means a record can be safely stored on one handset while still waiting for the server. Other devices cannot be expected to see it yet. Staff should recognise pending and conflict states before changing devices or repeating an operation.
