From operations to review

Use Reports to Explain the Business, Then Export When You Need More Analysis

Salelog turns recorded products, sales, purchases, expenses and payments into operational reports. Supported reports can be exported to an Excel-compatible file for additional analysis or sharing.

A report only reflects the records behind it. Missing sales, incorrect dates or stale costs cannot be repaired by a chart.

Record a small complete workflow and reconcile its report before exporting a large period.

  1. Move from totals to the transactions that explain them.

  2. Filter a meaningful period before comparing results.

  3. Use Excel for custom analysis without making it a second live ledger.

A useful report starts with a specific question

“How is the business doing?” is too broad. Ask whether you need product quantity, inventory cost, potential sales value, sales volume, money collected, supplier balance or operating expense. Each question uses different events and should not be collapsed into one total.

Choose the date range and location deliberately. A sale entered today with an earlier transaction date may belong to a different business period than its sync time.

Why sales do not equal cash

A credit sale changes revenue-related operational records and inventory before the customer pays. A later receipt changes the customer balance without selling the product again. The supplier side works the same way: merchandise can arrive before payment leaves.

If a sales report and bank activity differ, first compare sales with receipts and purchases with payments. Do not force unrelated totals to match.

Use Excel as an analysis destination

Export is useful for a custom pivot table, adviser request, presentation or archive. It becomes risky when the exported spreadsheet is edited as a second live system while new operations continue in the app.

Define Salelog as the operational source. If an error is found in Excel, correct the originating record where appropriate and produce a fresh export instead of maintaining two versions.

A pre-export checklist

  • confirm the organization, location and date period;
  • review cancellations and reversals;
  • separate sales from receipts and purchases from payments;
  • check missing prices, costs and tax settings;
  • open the exported file and verify headings, decimals and currency;
  • remove data the recipient does not need before sharing.

Reporting and export questions

Can I export reports to Excel?

Supported reports can be exported in an Excel-compatible format. Review the file for the fields and date range needed by the recipient.

Why does a report differ from my bank balance?

Sales and purchases are not the same as cash receipts and supplier payments. Timing, credit transactions, expenses and unrecorded activity can create legitimate differences.

Is the inventory sales value expected profit?

No. A potential sales value is a gross scenario based on current prices. Costs, taxes, discounts, expenses, returns and unsold products affect real profit.

Reconcile before you present

Check dates, cancellations, payments and costs, then export a report whose meaning you can explain.
