One sale, one connected stock movement

Record the Sale Once and Let the Same Transaction Update Inventory

When a stocked item is included in a completed Salelog sale, the related location quantity changes and the movement stays in the product history.

Correct automation still depends on the right product, unit, quantity and location.

Start a test item at 10, sell 2 and inspect the resulting quantity and history.

  1. Connect the sale line to its stock effect.

  2. Keep the reason for every quantity change.

  3. Use decimal quantities for weight, length or time.

Why end-of-day deductions create differences

Recording sales now and subtracting inventory later doubles the work. A cancellation, changed quantity or forgotten line can leave the spreadsheet and shelf out of sync. By the time the difference appears, its cause is hard to reconstruct.

A connected sale leaves a movement with the product, quantity and location. The system can show not only that eight units remain, but which transaction moved the balance from ten to eight.

Four pieces of data must be correct

Product

Similar names create selection errors. A clear internal code or unique barcode helps distinguish the right record.

Quantity and unit

One does not always mean one piece. Weight, length and time can require fractional quantities and a unit configured before transactions begin.

Location

The company may have inventory while the selling location does not. Verify the source or transfer units before completing the sale.

Transaction status

Completed sales, cancellations and corrections need an ordered history. Replacing the final quantity without preserving the event weakens traceability.

Automation does not replace counting

Software cannot infer physical loss or an event nobody recorded. Count important products on a schedule. When a difference appears, record a reasoned adjustment instead of changing the balance silently. That history can reveal whether the problem is receiving, selling, storage or process.

Sales and inventory questions

What happens to inventory when a sale is cancelled?

The cancellation should reverse the transaction's effect and remain visible as part of the movement sequence, preserving both the original sale and its reversal.

Does scanning an item immediately reduce stock?

No. Scanning only helps select the product. Quantity changes after the valid sale or inventory operation is completed.

Can I sell a fractional quantity such as 0.250 lb?

Salelog models quantities with up to three decimal places, allowing fractional units when the product unit and business workflow are configured appropriately.

Remove the second inventory update

Configure products and locations correctly so a completed sale explains the corresponding stock change.
