A browsing link, not another inventory file
A ceramics seller preparing for a weekend market may need to show a buyer the current assortment. Sending individual pictures makes the conversation hard to follow. A static attachment can remain in circulation after you change a product. A published Salelog catalog lets the buyer revisit one browser link while you manage the selected products in the app.
The catalog is a customer-facing view, not an invitation to join your organization. It does not show internal stock quantities, purchase costs, private notes or product barcodes. Because availability is not displayed, confirm that the requested items are in stock before promising an order.
How to prepare and share it
- In the mobile app, open Product Catalog and choose the products you want to show.
- Give the catalog a clear title and description. Review product names and photographs.
- Decide whether to display selling prices, how tax is presented and which contact details to show.
- Save, synchronize and publish. Preparing local changes is not the same as making them public.
- Open the link yourself before sending it to a customer by email or a messaging app.
The customer can search the assortment, filter by category and open product details. There is no customer account requirement. On your team, access follows the catalog permissions granted to staff; the visitor link does not grant those permissions.
A catalog link versus a PDF or an online store
| What you need | Appropriate workflow |
|---|---|
| Let someone browse selected products | Publish a Salelog catalog link. |
| Send agreed quantities and terms to a named customer | Create a quote or order and share its PDF. |
| Accept a shopping cart and online payment | Use an ecommerce system; the catalog does not provide checkout. |
The catalog is not a PDF catalog exporter. Salelog’s quotation and sales PDFs serve a different job: documenting a particular transaction rather than presenting an open-ended assortment.
Keep publication deliberate
Product changes need to synchronize before they appear to customers. Allow a short cache delay and check the public page after an important update. The link is not confidential: anyone receiving a forwarded copy can use it while the catalog is published.
You can unpublish without deleting the catalog, or replace the link when the old address should no longer be used. Neither action can remove information somebody has already saved. Catalog pages are not submitted as a search-indexed storefront; do not depend on publishing one to generate search traffic automatically.
